Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has donated a piece of Yardymly iron meteorite to the Natural History Museum in Vienna
On the occasion of centennial of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has donated a piece of Yardymly iron meteorite to the Natural History Museum in Vienna. The meteorite fell in Yardymly district of Azerbaijan on November 24, 1959 and is preserved in the Shamakha Astrophysical Observatory in Azerbaijan. The donation ceremony was held in the Museum on May 30th. Donation of a piece of the meteorite to the Museum, which is home to one of the largest meteorite collections in the world and is an important research center on meteorites, is a contribution of Azerbaijan to scientific research of the universe.
